A Cultural Celebration Benefitting the Harry A. Mier Center
This year’s A Musical Extravaganza was a great success! The cultural celebration to benefit the programs and services provided at the AbilityFirst Harry A. Mier Center honored Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas, Eloise Laws, and Carl A. Ballton.
The successful event held Sunday, July 15, 2012 at the AbilityFirst Harry A. Mier Center, drew a crowd of over 200 guests, and included live entertainment and savory cultural cuisines.
The entertainment, provided by Seville, Eloise Laws, Mekiel Reuben, and Marva Smith, kept guests on their feet as they danced the day away to the live music. During the program, guests also enjoyed a delicious meal provided by Gwen’s Specialty Catering.
The program, which was emceed by Leo Stallworth of KABC Channel 7, included a presentation of awards by Event Chair, Berlinda Fontenot-Jamerson, and Event Co-Chair, Mordena Moore. In honor of their dedication to supporting children and adults with special needs, each honoree received a plaque designed with artwork created by the Harry A. Mier Center participants.
The AbilityFirst Harry A. Mier Center would like to thank our sponsors, Union Bank, Sempra Energy, AEG, Time Warner Cable, Wells Fargo, and The City of Inglewood for their support and commitment to making this event a wonderful success.
We also greatly appreciate all those who participated; including our event committee, as well as the help of our volunteers who worked tirelessly to make sure the event ran smoothly.
We hope to see you again next year!
