AbilityFirst Marathon Campaign 2009

We did it! We reached our goal and raised $250,000 through our Marathon Campaign. We completed both the Santa Anita Derby Day 5K and the Los Angeles Marathon (5K, Bike Tour and 26 Mile Course) and met the $50,000 matching challenge grant from the Forest Lawn Foundation, exceeding our own goal to accomplish this. We count on contributions from friends and supporters to help bridge the gap between the rising cost of delivering quality services and reimbursement from the state. And the Marathon Campaign is one of several key AbilityFirst events that help us keep our great programs and services moving forward, and helping children and adults with disabilities realize their full potential.

We thank the Forest Lawn Foundation for their continued support and for continually raising the bar. Our Marathon Campaign team of program participants, their families, as well as our employees and good friends are grateful for the commitment that the Foundation has made to AbilityFirst over the last three years. We also thank Comerica Bank for sponsoring the Marathon Campaign for the second consecutive year and also challenging their employees to volunteer and participate in the campaign.

Thank you to our Marathon Campaign team. Your determination, perseverance and winning attitude paid off. Great job! Next year’s Marathon Campaign is sure to generate more interest and excitement. We look forward to reuniting our team, exploring new opportunities and going above and beyond once more.
